Regional Squads

SportTayside & Fife operate three age categories of Regional Squads to develop and promote players with potential basketball talent. The squads operate in partnership with basketballscotland, are player centred and adhere to basketballscotland’s Long Term Player Development (LTPD) principles.

Primary School Select Squad

This squad is for Under 12 Boys and Girls squads between February and May each year. The squads mainly target P6 and P7 children with good basketball experience.
Four Squads operate (*Under 12 is born on or after 1st January 1998):
Tayside Boys - Under 12s*
Tayside Girls - Under 12s*
Fife Boys - Under 12s*
Fife Girls - Under 12s*

The players are selected from each Local Authorities Primary School Festival programme and any local Development Squads that operate. The teams go on to play against each other in a Tayside & Fife challenge match, then go to the annual Primary School Inter Area Tournament hosted at Meadowmill SC in East Lothian in May.

Under 14 Squads

SportTayside & Fife operate the basketballscotland Talent Development Programme for Under 14 Boys and Girls in the area.

Squads operate between October and June each season, and U14 is born on or after 1st January 1996.
