Local and Regional Player Improvement Programmes
Through the regionalisation of football in Scotland came the restructure of the Performance Pathway for Girls & Women. Rolled out in August 2006 opportunities now exist to develop talented young players through Local Area Squads (U13), Regional Development Squads (U15, U19) and East Region Squads (U15, U19).
These programmes are monitored and co-ordinated by the Girls & Women’s Development Officer and the SFA East Region Manager and are delivered through a network of highly qualified coaches.
Each squad adheres to a national programme that is adapted to suit individual needs and requirements of the athletes within each squad.
Squad selections take place at the start of each season with programmes running between 20 – 28 weeks depending on the level of performance.
