Women in Coaching

SportTayside & Fife recognises the important role women play developing athletes. They also have an important role to play as mentors and role models. SportTayside & Fife will work in partnership with Scottish Governing Bodies and sportscotland to develop mentoring and CPD programmes for women coaches. Current statistics suggest that women make up 40% of all coaches in the UK and 34% of all coaches in Scotland. Women also account for two-fifths of all qualified coaches. The SportTayside & Fife programme will attempt to help women coaches feel more comfortable in their sporting environment, which has arguably been an exclusively male dominated domain.
