Two Tayside & Fife Athletes Make GB Team for European Under 23 Championships

Elidih Child and Graeme Oudney (both Pitreavie) have been selected for the Great Britain team for the European Under 23 Championships after excellent recent form. Elidih will run in the 400m Hurdles after winning the Championship trials in Bedford on June 23rd & 24th. She has had a fantastic season to date and has broken her PB on six occasions already this summer. The European championships, which take place in Debrecen, Hungary, from 12th - 15th July, will be a great chance for Eilidh to test herself against Europe's finest Under 23 athletes. She is currently ranked ninth quickest Under 23 in Europe so a place in the final is a real possibility.

Graeme has been selected following another season of improvement that has seen him clock two new PBs and achieve a new best of 1min 47.77secs. This performance ranks him second in Britain at Under 23 level and represents an improvement of nearly a second on his best time before this summer. Against Europe's best he is sure to be in with a chance of improving this even further, although the races may be slow and tactical. If they are he should be in a great position to utilise the speed in the home straight which has seen him clock under 48seconds for 400m this year.
